Health Coaching

Are you happy?

Are you really?

It’s ok to not be. Or to not know if you’re really happy. That’s why I’m here.

I enrolled in the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN) in June 2019. I’m becoming a certified health coach so I can help others live their best lives.

IIN focuses on a holistic approach to health and nutrition. They teach that no one way of eating works for everyone. IIN believes your "primary foods" are more important than nutrition.  “Primary foods,” are things that nourishes us off the plate such as joy, home cooking, home environment, relationships, physical activity, career, finances, spirituality and more! IIN also teaches that instead of taking things out of your diet, they suggest adding in more healthy foods, such as fruits and veggies. IIN is teaching me how to help others create lasting healthy habits that will stick.

My Backstory

I used to wake up most mornings and literally roll out of bed, throw on jeans and a t-shirt and grumble off to work. While I was mostly content with life, I kept asking myself, “Is this the best there is? Am I living my best life?” I felt a lot like Mia Thermopolis in The Princess Diaries before her makeover. (That wasn’t a spoiler)

Mia Thermopolis, As always this is as good as it's gonna get.

*Please note that I’m highlighting Mia’s bad attitude (and not her looks).

And I wasn’t living my best life. I was so tired of being tired and going through life on autopilot. It felt like life was living me, I wasn’t living life. It felt like there were no differences between my days; wake up, go to work, come home and eat dinner, go to bed, and repeat. I may as well have been a character in the Sims. My depression was taking over and it wasn’t a cute look.

One day, I said “enough is enough” and booked a therapy appointment. Ok... there’s a little more to the story, but that’s the gist. Therapy gave me the tools and strategies to handle my depression (and anxiety), and eventually realize that what I wanted to do with my life was to help people by becoming some sort of health or life coach. To be an inspiration and motivational voice that I didn’t have. We only have one life to live, so let’s make it the best that it can be!

More resources and how to work with me coming soon!
